Lifelong Ocala resident says elderly cannot walk from parking garage

To the Editor:

I was born in Ocala in 1948 and have seen a lot of changes to our downtown area and not all good. I love that we have been able to keep our downtown beautiful and thriving. Back then, the cost to park was much cheaper it was probably 10 cent for a couple of hours. I do not think the meters are a problem, the problem is that there is not enough parking. The parking garage should have been put where the new hotel is and the hotel where the parking garage is. The older people who would love to eat at the downtown restaurants and shop at the stores can not walk from the parking garage. So doing away with the meters will not increase the number of people who frequent downtown.
