John Morris Nash

John Morris Nash, 80, passed away on Tuesday, April 5th, 2022. John was born in Miami, Florida on December 3rd, 1941, to his parents George and Ida Nash.

John was one of nine brothers and sisters, three of whom predeceased him. Although John was not married and had no children of his own, he was in so many ways a beloved member of the entire Nash, Magursky, Castille and Terry families. John was a brother, brother-in-law, an uncle, and a great uncle to so many members of his extended family. But John was more than that. John was our friend. While John seemed to like most everyone he met, he was very much loved by those who knew him well.

John joined the United States Air Force on January 9th, 1961, and was honorably discharged on January 8th, 1965. He spent the majority of his time in Service as a jet engine mechanic at the Gabreski Air Force Base in Westhampton Beach, New York. After his Service ended, John did some traveling, started a small business but still wanted to travel some more. Finally, John made his way to Mt. Holly, Vermont. He fell in love with the area. He bought some land, started a business and lived there happily for many years.

Eventually though, John left Vermont and joined the family-owned Plumbing Company, William R. Nash, Inc., in Florida. He worked for many years as a supervisor for the company and eventually retired in 2015. He then moved to central Florida for the remainder of his life.

John loved to travel. But even more than traveling, he loved the countless trips he made to Florida’s Walt Disney World with various family members. The favorite times for John were those he spent with his nieces, nephews, and all his family members. He was absolutely a dedicated family man, and his family was very large.

In recent years, John loved attending Meadowbrook Church in Ocala with his sister-in-law, Pam, on Sunday mornings. This time each Sunday was not only special and meaningful to John, but actually life changing. He will be missed!

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 23rd at Banks-Page-Theus Funeral and Cremations in Wildwood, Florida. A pastor from Meadowbrook Church will be involved in this service as well as several family members. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to either Meadowbrook Church, 4741 SW 20th Street, Ocala, Fl. 34474, or Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10306.
