Local firefighters battled a blaze that destroyed a vacant home in northwest Ocala on Tuesday morning.
Shortly after 5 a.m., Ocala Fire Rescue units consisting of Engines 1, 3, and 4, Rescue 1, Squad 7, Battalion Chief 11, and a Safety Officer responded to the 700 block of NW 23rd Avenue in reference to a structure fire.
Upon arrival, crew members found a vacant one-story construction home that was fully engulfed in flames.
As the crews prepared to battle the blaze, they observed that the roof was succumbing to the heat. The flames were also burning through a power line that was running beside the home.
A defensive water attack was initiated by the crews. Through the use of two hose lines on different sides of the home, the fire was controlled within eight minutes of OFR’s arrival on scene.
According to OFR, the fire was completely extinguished by 5:24 a.m. There were no injuries reported.
The Ocala Police Department and Marion County Fire Rescue also responded.
