Marion County Public Schools has announced that security is being increased at all campuses across the county through the last day of school on Thursday, May 26.
After Tuesday’s tragic shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, MCPS communicated with local law enforcement units, and security has been doubled on campuses throughout Marion County. These law enforcement units, along with school resource officers, will remain on alert in the district.
“While these trying times remain heavy, we want to assure our students, parents, families, and staff that their safety is our number one priority,” said MCPS in a social media post.
MCPS concluded the post by stating, “Our thoughts and prayers are with and continue to be with everyone involved and the Uvalde community after this horrible and senseless act of violence.”
