In the early morning hours on Sunday, a van transporting over a dozen dogs was involved in a crash at the intersection of S Pine Avenue and SW Fort King Street in Ocala.
According to the Ocala Police Department, the van was delivering 17 kenneled dogs of all sizes to various owners across the United States. Due to damages from the accident, the van was inoperable, and the two drivers had no other form of transportation.
To assist the van’s human and canine occupants, Sergeant Pitman and Lieutenant Uptagraft requested the help of their A-Squad midnight shift. They were able to locate a hotel that could accommodate the van’s occupants, and a motorcade consisting of patrol cars and an ambulance helped transport them safely to the local hotel.
No serious injuries were reported in the accident and all dogs appeared to be fine.
