John Lee Lynch of Ocala, FL passed away on April 24th, 2023 at the age of 78. He was born in Hartsville, SC, to Carl and Rosa Lynch and later moved to Orange Park, FL, where he attended Orange Park High School and excelled in football and basketball. After high school he attended Lake City Junior College where he played basketball. Then he pursued his dream and joined the Florida Highway Patrol.

John started his law enforcement career in Pinellas County and moved through various other counties throughout the state. He proudly served the citizens in Marion County as a Florida State Trooper for many years before retiring in 1993. During that time, he also served his country and was a veteran of the Army National Guard.

After retirement, John was the owner of several local businesses. He was married to his best friend Linda for over 50 years. They enjoyed big game hunting and taking care of their hunting ranch in central Alabama. John was a long time Freemason and member of the Orange Park Lodge NO. 267. He was a dedicated Gator Booster, but his biggest enjoyment came from watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.

John was a wonderful example of a husband, a father, a grandfather, and a friend. He was a kind and generous man, who was loyal and protective of his family and friends. John had an outgoing personality and was known for his wit, humor, and storytelling.

John is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Kenny and Mike. He is survived and missed by his wife Linda, his son, Skip Lynch (Frances), his daughter, Angelia Morlan, his three grandchildren, Logan Morlan, Tyler Lynch and Raine Lynch, his siblings, Rosene Gregory, Gerald Lynch (Cathy), Carlyle Lynch (Barbara), and Alton Lynch (Vivian), his sister-in-law, Kathy Rhoden (Danny), his mother-in-law, Mary (Meme) Doss, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Roberts of Ocala Downtown Chapel, 606 SW 2nd Ave Ocala, FL 34471 on May 15th at 10:30 AM. The family will receive visitors one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org
