Man wanted by Marion deputies for credit card fraud totaling $18,000

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man who allegedly used a deceased person’s credit card to obtain over $18,000 in cash advances from numerous ATMs in Marion County.

The fraud was discovered by a Florida Credit Union employee who was investigating a delinquent credit card loan from April of 2023. According to a social media post from the sheriff’s office, the employee determined that the account’s owner had passed away in September of 2022, and the fraudulent charges – totaling $18,107.74 – were made the following year in February and March.

The credit union employee notified MCSO of the fraud, and photos of a male suspect (see below) were obtained from one of the ATM transactions involving the deceased person’s credit card.
