Local law enforcement officials have confirmed that human remains that were found in a ditch along a Marion County road last month belong to a missing mother of three who was last seen in October of 2022.

The Medical Examiner’s Office has positively identified the human remains as those of 25-year-old Crystalyn Katherine Mobley, according to an email sent to Ocala-News.com by Marion County Sheriff’s Office officials.

Mobley was last seen on October 16, 2022 in the 10800 block of SE 166th Lane in Summerfield.

Due to statements that she had made around the time of her disappearance, deputies were concerned for her safety.

On August 17, ten months after Mobley’s disappearance, MCSO deputies responded to the 12000 block of E Highway 42 in Weirsdale after human remains were found by citizens who were changing a tire.

MCSO detectives soon arrived on scene, and they worked in conjunction with personnel from the Medical Examiner’s Office and the University of Florida C.A. Pound Human Identification Lab to identify the remains.

According to the sheriff’s office, an investigation is still underway to determine Mobley’s manner or cause of death.

Mobley leaves behind three young children: two sons, ages 2 and 3, and a 5-year-old daughter.
