David Allen Brown, 83, of Dunnellon, FL passed away into Paradise on January 21, 2024.
David was born on January 26, 1940 to Geraldine (Bentley) Brown and Alfred Allen Brown in Guthrie, OK. He was an only child, and spent most of his childhood in Porterville, CA. Upon graduation from high school, he joined the United States Navy, and served his country for 26-plus years as an enlisted corpsman with the Navy and Marines, and later as an officer in the medical field as a Nurse and an Advanced Registered Nurse Practioner. He was stationed at various bases in CA, Japan, the Philippines, Quam, FL, MD, and lastly NAS Memphis, TN.
David retired from the USN in 1989, moved to FL and was employed by Tampa General Hospital for 6 years; then he moved to the Dunnellon, FL area where he was employed in the medical dept. at the nuclear plant in Crystal River, FL for 7-plus years, and lastly taught nursing in Ocala at CFCC. He retired completely in 2004, and enjoyed life on the Withlacoochie River and visiting his children and grandchildren all over the United States.
David was a member of the Church of Christ and worshiped with the Dunnellon, FL congregation.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 37 years, Sheri Brown, and his children and their spouses, Brian Brown (Kim), Tiffany Corrigan (Billy), and Jeffrey Brown (Kathryn). In addition, he leaves behind his step-children, Robin Norris, and Shaun Abernathie; and also 8 grandchildren, Eric Brown, Anna Brown, Ethan Corrigan, Jenna Corrigan, Libby Brown, Julian Brown, Evan Norris, and Logan Norris.
The family will be having a private burial at the Bushnell National Cemetery at 11:00 on Monday, January 29th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
