Ocala driver dies after crashing into sign, fence, and tree

A 55-year-old woman from Ocala died on Thursday morning after her vehicle crashed into a sign, fence, and tree in Marion County.

At around 10:30 a.m., the woman was traveling westbound on County Road 328 in an SUV, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

A trooper noted in the report that shortly after the woman drove past the intersection of SW 140th Avenue, her SUV veered across the centerline and exited the roadway towards the south shoulder. Moments later, the vehicle struck a road sign.

After the initial impact, the front section of the SUV proceeded to collide with a nearby fence and tree.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

The report stated that the woman was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Her name was not released by the Florida Highway Patrol.
