Smash Lab of Ocala closed amidst move to new location

A “rage room” that opened its doors in Ocala last Summer is temporarily closed as the business works on moving to a new location.

Smash Lab of Ocala closed its location at 626 S Pine Avenue in Pine Plaza in February. At the time, the business announced that it hoped to improve its offering at a “better” location.

“We are changing locations to bring a better experience to you. We will be closed for a few weeks as we transition,” reads a statement issued by the company on social media in February.

This week, the rage room provided a brief update on its progress, citing health issues that have caused unforeseen delays in construction.

“In the process of moving to our new location, our family has had some unforeseen health issues arise,” reads a statement from the company. The issues have led to a “delay in the rebuilding and reopening process.”

“We will try to do a better job at keeping everyone informed on the progress,” reads the post.

Smash Lab originally opened for business last August.

Owned and operated by husband and wife Travis and Crystal Kinsey, the original location underwent a series of renovations for several months before it opened.

As its name suggests, a rage room, also known as a “smash room,” is a room where people can vent their emotions by destroying objects in a safe setting.
