Temporary trail closure at Ocala Wetland Recharge Park

City officials announced a temporary trail closure at the Ocala Wetland Recharge Park due to ongoing construction and repairs.

The park, which is located at 2105 NW 21st Street in Ocala, will experience temporary trail closures “due to construction and repair projects throughout” the area, according to a statement issued by the city of Ocala on Monday afternoon.

The city says the park will remain open to visitors, with “some sections of trails” being closed off to “accommodate equipment and crews.”

“The parking lot, public bathrooms, and drinking water fountains will remain open,” reads a statement from the city.

The city is advising visitors to avoid construction areas and obey posted trail closure signs.

During the temporary closure, visitors may see dust and hear noise, and city officials say they are taking all necessary actions to “minimize disturbances” to wildlife.

Last month, trail closures were announced at the park to allow crews to repair damage caused by sinkholes

In January, the city reported a spill of approximately 1.5 million gallons of public access reuse water after a sinkhole formed in Wetland Cell 1 at the park, which is located at 2205 NW 21st Street.
