A restaurant chain that sells sliders and fries just opened its second location in Ocala, about seven months after opening its first spot in the city along the same roadway.
Smalls Sliders officially opened its second location in Ocala at 7648 SW Highway 200 on Tuesday, April 29. The opening comes just a few months after the signature “can” (i.e., shipping container) was dropped at the site.
Owned by father and son Doug and William Cone, the new Smalls Sliders is approximately 6.6 miles from the first Ocala location, which opened last September. Cone, who founded Cone Distributing in Ocala, and his son have agreed to open multiple locations in the city and surrounding markets.
The menu at both restaurants features sliders, waffle fries, and drinks, including shakes. Sliders may be purchased in combination meals or in party packs, which are available in multiples of 25.
The new Smalls Sliders locations opened in Ocala in less than a year since Ocala-News.com first reported them.
Founded by Brandon Landry in Louisiana in 2019, there are approximately 28 Smalls Sliders locations in operation around the United States as of April 30, including one other location in Florida (Pensacola).
The company has agreements in place with several franchisees, with current plans calling for the number of restaurants to increase nearly 10-fold to over 250.
The second Smalls Sliders location in Ocala is situated just south of several newer commercial developments along that stretch of SR 200, including Ellianos Coffee, a new Waffle House nearing completion, a townhome community, a tire shop, and a car wash that opened last year, among others.
