The Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company opened its final major juvenile auction of the year on Tuesday with the sale of 163 horses for more than $9 million.

The opening day of the 2026 June Two-Year-Olds in Training and Horses of Racing Age Sale concluded with 163 horses successfully changing hands for total gross receipts of $9,066,000. The session yielded a cumulative average price of $55,620 and a median price of $30,000.

The three-day event, which runs through June 18 at the OBS facility at 1701 SW 60th Avenue in Ocala, features a total catalog of 909 horses, with roughly 300 properties scheduled to go under the hammer each day.

The top transaction of the opening session was secured by Hip 168, a dark bay or brown colt by first-crop sire Early Voting. The juvenile was purchased by trainer Greg Compton, acting as an agent on behalf of MAG Racing Stables, LLC, for a day-topping $410,000. Consigned by Julie Davies, the colt had previously clocked an under-tack time of :10 flat while sprinting an eighth of a mile during the pre-sale exhibitions.

According to OBS, a total of five individual horses eclipsed the $300,000 threshold during Tuesday’s session. By comparison, only eight horses managed to reach or pass that same financial mark during the entirety of the 2025 June sale. In fact, during that 2025 session, a total of 502 horses sold for over $25.6 million. That 2025 event was highlighted by a top-selling horse that went for $975,000.

Driven by record-breaking turnouts earlier this spring, OBS has already logged more than $185 million in total sales across its March and April events.

That spring stretch was highlighted by a historic $113.8 million April event, which featured an all-time organizational record single-horse transaction of $10.5 million.

The OBS June sale will continue with its remaining two sessions on Wednesday and Thursday. Bidding opens each morning following the conclusion of the cataloged entries.
