Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bar opens new Ocala location at Market Street at Heathbrook

Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bar opened the doors on their new Ocala location at Market Street at Heathbrook this week.

The new oyster bar officially opened its doors for business on Monday, March 2 at 4414 SW College Road #600, next door to Eggs Up Grill, which opened its doors in Ocala earlier this year.

Specializing in fresh, steamed, and raw seafood, the restaurant features a variety of seafood options, including its namesake oysters, shrimp, clams, crab legs, and mussels. In addition to seafood, the restaurant offers wings, salads, and tacos, among other options.

The restaurant currently features two varieties of oyster: Gulf Wild and Blue Point. The describe the Gulf Wild oysters as having a “tender, yet firm texture,” with a sweet and creamy flavor.

The Blue Point oysters, which come from Long Island Sound, have a high salinity and mild flavor, followed by a sweet aftertaste. Both varieties of the restaurant’s oysters are available on the half shell and are prepared to order, either on ice, steamed, or grilled.

In addition to oysters on the half shell, the restaurant offers a collection of samplers that allow diners to sample other types of seafood. The steamed sampler features a selection of three types of shellfish from among six oysters, six clams, half a pound of Shrimp, twleve mussels, or a half a pound of crab legs.

For those looking for a crispier, glazed finish, the restaurant chargrills much of the steamed items available, including scallops.

According to the company’s Facebook page, they are offering followers a chance to win free oysters for a year.
