Williston woman charged with DUI in Ocala

Karey Rae Charles

A Williston woman was charged with DUI after being pulled over for weaving on NW 10th Street in Ocala.

At around 3 a.m. Thursday, a Marion County sheriff’s deputy was traveling west on NW 10th Street, approaching the intersection with NW 27th Avenue, when he saw a vehicle exit a business on the north side of the road and enter the highway without stopping. The vehicle immediately started driving on the right fog line before weaving into the proper lane and then back onto the fog line, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The deputy conducted the traffic stop in the 4400 block of NW 10th Street and spoke with the driver, 24-year-old Karey Rae Charles. She said she was at the business getting tacos. The deputy observed her eyes were bloodshot and watery, the report said.

When asked if she had anything to drink, Charles said she had two white claws. While speaking with Charles, the deputy smelled alcohol on her breath. Charles performed a series of standard sobriety exercises, failing all but one, and a breath test provided two readings of .045 grams of alcohol per 210 liters of breath, according to the report.

Charles was taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released Thursday afternoon on $1,000 bond.
