A 23-year-old Ocala man with a history of domestic violence was arrested after neighbors reported seeing him punch a woman multiple times and chase her while firing a gun.
Trevor Allen Crim was charged with battery (second or subsequent offense) after the incident, which happened recently at his residence on SW 90th Street. Crim has two prior battery convictions from 2012, as well as an arrest for felony battery in 2017 and domestic battery in April of this year. He also has multiple prior arrests on drug and weapons charges.
A Marion County sheriff’s deputy first spoke with the victim, who said everything was fine and wouldn’t cooperate with law enforcement. The deputy did not observe any injuries on the victim, according to the sheriff’s office report.
The first witness said she could hear a male – later identified as Crim – being verbally loud and slamming the front door. She said Crim then locked the victim outside and refused to het her back in. The witness said she could hear a baby crying and the victim begging to be let back into the house, the report said.
The witness said Crim came outside and started punching the victim multiple times. She said she could actually hear the physical contact as well as see it. The witness said the child was standing outside and watching as Crim dragged the victim back into the house. She said she could still year Crim yelling and loud banging noises, according to the report.
The witness the victim then ran out the door into the front door with Crim chasing and yelling, “You’re not leaving.” She said she then heard a loud bang, which she thought might be a gunshot, and Crim telling the victim to come back inside. The witness said there was another loud bang, the report said.
A second witness said he heard a loud bang that sounded like a gunshot. He said when he came outside, he saw the victim running through the front yard, yelling “help me” multiple times. The witness said the victim then yelled, “He’s going to shoot me,” and Crim yelled that hew was going to kill her, according to the report.
After being read his Miranda warning, Crim said the argument was verbal only and the victim was not even at the residence. He said there was never a gun involved and he only smacked her vehicle when she was leaving, the report said.
Crim was being held without bond in the Marion County Jail. He is due to appear in Marion County Court on Aug. 25.
