Ocklawaha man headed home to Washington on warrant

Brandon Wayne Tompkins

An Ocklawaha man will be extradited to his home state of Washington after an active warrant was discovered when the vehicle he was riding in was pulled over for having an expired registration.

Brandon Wayne Tompkins, 40, of 9348 S. Hwy. 314A, was a passenger in a green Ford Explorer that was stopped around 5 a.m. Tuesday on East Highway 40 in Silver Springs. The vehicle’s registration had expired on Oct. 29, 2020, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office report.

A computer check revealed Tompkins has an active warrant from the Washington Department of Corrections for violation of community custody, which he was sentenced to for the original charge of possession of a motor vehicle, the report said.

Tompkins was taken to the Marion County Jail and will be extradited without bond.
