City accepting youth posters in contest to highlight how Ocala ‘feels like home’

The city of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department is currently accepting entries for a new Racial Equity and Cultural Harmony poster contest.

The REACH poster contest is open to youths aged 18 and under. Participants are asked to illustrate their perspective on the theme of restoration and answer the questions: “How Does Ocala feel like home to you?” and “How do we make Ocala feel like home for everyone?”

A committee will choose one collaborative overall poster winner and one individual winner. Depending on the number of submittals, the committee may recognize more winners by different age groups.

Winners will be recognized at the Unity Breakfast.

The deadline for submissions in this year’s poster contest is Friday, September 10 at 5 p.m. Submissions may be delivered to the Ocala Recreation and Parks Department headquarters, located at 828 NE 8th Avenue in Ocala.

For more a complete set of the rules for poster submissions, or for more information about the contest, visit the City of Ocala REACH webpage.
