Ocala woman with revoked license arrested after MCSO deputy spots her behind wheel of pickup truck

A 53-year-old Ocala woman with a revoked driver’s license was arrested after a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy spotted her behind the steering wheel of a pickup truck.

On Saturday, May 14, the MCSO deputy responded to the Dugout Sports Bar and Grill located at 6833 SE Maricamp Road in Ocala in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, the deputy observed a yellow 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 with a Tennessee license plate.

A woman, identified as Donna Sharline Huffman, was sitting inside the pickup truck.

The MCSO report indicated that Huffman appeared to be disoriented and confused. She told the deputy that she drove to the restaurant to meet a friend, and the deputy observed an open alcoholic beverage container inside the cup holder.

When the deputy asked for Huffman’s driver’s license, she advised that she only possessed an identification card. The deputy noted in the report that the following was displayed on the card: “not valid for operation of any motor vehicle, DUI offender.”

A computer search of Huffman revealed that her driver’s license was most recently revoked on or after January 1, 1997 due to a DUI conviction in the state of Tennessee.

Huffman exited the vehicle, and a search of the vehicle’s interior was conducted. The deputy located a black purse which contained her wallet and a small plastic tube that contained a plastic bag.

A white powdery substance was inside the bag which field-tested positive for fentanyl. The deputy also located a glass smoking pipe inside a gym bag on the passenger’s side floorboard, and the pipe also had a white powdery residue.

Huffman admitted that the items inside the purse belonged to her. She also told the deputy that the powdery substance was obtained in Tennessee and did not come from Florida.

Huffman was arrested and transported to Marion County Jail where she is currently being held on $13,000 bond. She is facing felony charges for driving with a suspended or revoked license (third or subsequent offense) and possession of a controlled substance, along with a misdemeanor charge for possession of drug paraphernalia.

A court date has been scheduled on Tuesday, June 14 at 9 a.m., according to jail records.
