Ocala Symphony Orchestra: Youthful Renderings to feature Young Artist Competition winners

The two winners of the 2023 Young Artist Competition will join the Ocala Symphony Orchestra on the Reilly stage later this month for “Youthful Renderings” led by Maestro Matthew Wardell.

The performances will take place on Saturday, March 18 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 19 at 3 p.m. at the Reilly Arts Center located at 500 NE 9th Street in Ocala.

The Ocala Symphony Orchestra will begin the concert with Franz Schubert’s Overture to the Magic Harp, which will then be followed by performances from the winners of the Young Artist Competition: Jay Julio (Senior Division winner) and Isabelle Tseng (Junior Division winner).

Julio will entertain the audience with a rendition of Viola Concerto by William Walton on viola. Tseng will then take the stage with her violin for a performance of Tzigane by Maurice Ravel.

The orchestra will wrap up the concert with a performance of Rendering by Luciano Berio. According to OSO, Berio uses fragments from Schubert’s incomplete tenth symphony as the structure and basis of this final inventive piece.

Tickets are on sale for both performances of “Youthful Renderings” and range from $15 to $40.
