Deputies arrest suspect in armed robbery at McDonald’s in Bushnell

Sumter County sheriff’s deputies arrested one of the suspects involved in an armed robbery Wednesday night at McDonald’s in Bushnell.

At 11:45 p.m., Sumter County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a McDonald’s located at 2195 W County Road 48, where an armed robbery had occurred. The victims stated two suspects approached three clerks, who were outside on a smoke break, and brandished firearms, threatened the clerks and forced them back inside the restaurant, the report stated. The first suspect is described as a black male, wearing all gray with black shoes and a red covering over his face, while the second suspect is described as a black male wearing a multicolored shirt with a hoodie, white Adidas, black covering over his face and light-colored shorts. The two gunmen obtained an undisclosed amount of money and fled the area in a blue sports utility vehicle. Deputies discovered the vehicle was stolen out of Lake County during a car-jacking that happened 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, the report noted.

A deputy observed the vehicle traveling at high rate of speed in the area of Belt Avenue and U.S. 301, which prompted deputies to bring the vehicle to a stop in the area of Shady Brook Golf Course. Three people left the vehicle and fled on foot, but at approximately 1:23 a.m., one of the suspects was located and taken into custody, according to the report.

The suspect, 18-year-old George Preston Brown IV of Leesburg,was charged with three counts of kidnapping, three counts of aggravated assault, armed robbery and resisting arrest without violence.
