Ocala woman who said she’d been drinking arrested after report of reckless driver

Georgina Maria Marty

A woman who said she’d been drinking at Garvino’s in The Villages, was arrested after law enforcement received a report of a reckless driver.

Georgina Maria Marty, 56, of Ocala, was at the wheel of a beige Hyundai at about 10:45 p.m. Saturday when she approached the railroad crossing on County Road 466 at County Road 105, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

The vehicle slowly started to proceed toward the railroad crossing while a train was actively passing through,” the deputy wrote in his report.

During a traffic stop, Marty said she had consumed “two glasses of wine” at Garvino’s at Lake Sumter Landing. The caller who reported the reckless driver had said Marty’s car ran a red light at Lake Sumter Landing and nearly collided with his vehicle.

The native of Spain failed field sobriety exercises and provided breath samples that registered .152 and .145 blood alcohol content.

She was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $1,000 bond. She was also issued a written warning for running a red light.
