Girl reports attempted kidnapping while walking home from friend’s house in Mount Dora

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is looking for this man in connection with an attempted kidnapping of a young girl in Mount Dora on Monday. Anyone with information about him is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (352) 343-2101.

Lake County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home in Mount Dora on Monday afternoon after a young girl reported that someone tried to kidnap her.

The girl told deputies she was returning from a friend’s house and walking along railroad tracks in the area of Old Hwy. 441 and Golden Isle when a man lunged at her and grabbed her wrists and the back of her neck while yelling, “Come on.”

The girl told deputies that she was able to kick the man and get away. She said she ran back to her friend’s house and called her mother.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned black male in his late 20s or early 30s, approximately 6-foot-2-inches tall with a slender build. He was wearing a gray tank top, baggy black shorts and a gray knit cap.

The man was described as having one to two days of facial hair growth and what appeared to be a very distinguishable birthmark covering his right shoulder.
