Edith B. Moreland

Edith B. Moreland of Ocala, FL, beloved wife of Clyde Edward (‘Mutt’) Parker, her husband of 39 years, and Roland G. Moreland, her husband of 19 years, and beloved mother of daughter, Virginia Parker and son, Thomas E. (Tom) Parker, passed away peacefully at Timber Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on September 23, 2018. She was 97.

Christened Edith Liddell Blackburn, she was born and raised in Atlanta, GA, graduating from Atlanta Girls’ High School. She held a variety of administrative and secretarial positions, culminating with her retirement from the Georgia Department of Labor, where she served as a secretary for over 25 years. Edith devoted her free time and talents taking care of family and friends.

Ron and Edith moved to Ocala in 1998 and settled in Marion Landing. Sadly, Ron passed away in 1999. Edith remained in Marion Landing, where she enjoyed the community’s many social activities. She moved to Brookdale Canopy Oaks in February 2018. Wherever she lived, she enjoyed playing cards, board games, bingo and trivia – anything that allowed her to spend quality time with her many friends. She was a member of and gained spiritual strength at Joy Evangelical Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Clyde Parker and Ron Moreland; and a daughter, Virginia Parker.

She is survived by her son, Tom Parker and his wife, Monica, of Trenton, IL.

A Celebration of Life service will take place at Joy Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7045 SW 83rd Place, Ocala, FL 34476 on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 11:00 AM. There will be no visitation. Inurnment will be conducted privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Marion County (www.hospiceofmarion.com or Joy Evangelical Lutheran Church (www.joylutheranocala.com). Arrangements are under the artful care of Roberts Funeral Home, Bruce West Chapel, Ocala, FL.
