Marion County residents encouraged to apply for upcoming Citizens Academy

Get your keyboards, smartphones and touch screens ready – the application period for the 2019 Marion County Citizens Academy is now open.

Marion County residents can join this program to learn more about the community where they live, work and play. But those interested in participating need to hurry, because seats fill up quickly.

This comprehensive course covers the challenges and issues facing Marion County, encourages participation in the government process and familiarizes participants with the operations and services of Marion County government (not including constitutional offices).
Attendees can look forward to interactive demonstrations and behind-the-scenes tours of county facilities, as well as presentations from county commissioners, department directors and other staff.

The program will be on Thursdays, from March 14 to May 16, from 9 a.m. to noon. Marion County residents or business owners ages 18 and older are eligible to attend. All participants must complete a registration form and be accepted prior to attending. And they must attend at least eight of the program’s 10 sessions to graduate.
For more information or to apply, visit MarionCountyFL.org/CitizensAcademy or call (352) 438-2300.
