Two-time Ocala offender charged with domestic battery

Brian Browne

An Ocala man with two previous domestic battery arrests is in the Marion County Jail after being accused of striking a woman during an argument Sunday evening.

Brian Browne, 53, of NE 1st Place, was charged with domestic battery and is being held on $2,500 bond. He was charged in September 2013 with domestic battery, and in April 2018 with domestic battery and violating a protection order, according to jail records.

The victim in the latest incident told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that Browne grabbed her by the neck and hit her on the right side of her face. She said her breathing was not restricted. The deputy observed red marks on the victim’s neck and her right cheekbone. A next-door neighbor said he saw Browne push the victim and punch her in the chest, according to the sheriff’s office report.

Browne, who denied having a physical altercation with the victim, was arrested without incident. He’ll appear in Marion County Court on June 13.
