Ocala woman jailed after nasty spat with daughter and her friend

An Ocala woman was arrested Wednesday afternoon after an altercation with her adult daughter and her daughter’s friend.

Tammy Yvette Fincher, 44, of 831 NE 36th St., was charged with one count of simple domestic battery and one count of simple battery. She was taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released Thursday on $3,000 bond.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to investigate a disturbance at Fincher’s residence, where the two victims flagged them down across the street. A deputy observed red marks and scratches on Fincher’s daughter and a ripped tank top on the other victim, according to the sheriff’s office report.

Fincher’s daughter told the deputy that her mother had left her identification card in her vehicle, and that she drove to Fincher’s home to return it. She said Fincher appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance. She said she gave her mother the ID card through the front passenger-side window and Fincher walked away, the report said.

Fincher’s daughter said Fincher abruptly turned around, stormed to the passenger-side window and said, “Oh, you want to fight. You want to fight.” Fincher then reached into the car window and tried to pull the other victim out of the car, ripping her tank top in the process, according to the report.

Fincher’s daughter said she got out of the car and ran to help the other victim. She said Fincher scratched her chest. She said she saw the other victim kick Fincher in the face in an effort to get away. Fincher’s daughter said the other victim is four months pregnant, and Fincher begged them not to call the police because she didn’t know the other victim is pregnant, the report said.

In an interview with deputies, Fincher said the victims “came to the house, jumped out of the car, and started beating me up.” However, everyone at the location said they didn’t witness anything. The deputy observed a small bloody scratch on Fincher’s nose, according to the report.

The deputy reported Fincher’s behavior and body language were erratic, and she was having trouble staying on topic when she answered questions. He noted the bloody scratch on Fincher’s nose was consistent with the victim’s story of kicking her in the nose, the report said.

Fincher will answer to the battery charges in Marion County Court on June 13.
