Ocala woman accused of hitting roommate with vape pen over unpaid rent

Kimberly Jo Stone

An Ocala woman was arrested after she allegedly struck her roommate with a vape pen during a nasty spat over unpaid rent.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded Tuesday morning to the Murphy Express gas station at 17 Cedar Radial Pass, where the victim said 51-year-old Kimberly Jo Stone battered her at their residence on Oak Circle Way. The victim said Stone came into her bedroom and asked her to leave because of unpaid rent, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said a verbal altercation took place, and as she turned around and walked away, Stone attacked her and struck her on the bridge of her nose with a large vape pen. She said Stone punched her several times on her face and head, the report said.

The deputy went to the Oak Circle Way residence, where Stone said she and the victim “got into a fight.” She said she went into the victim’s bedroom and asked her what time she was moving out. Stone said she and the victim got into a verbal argument, and the victim attacked her. She said she had her vape pen in her hand and she struck the victim in the face with it by mistake. Stone said she also punched the victim several times to defend herself, according to the report.

The deputy observed the bridge and inside of the victim’s nose were still bleeding, and her left eye was swollen with a small amount of discoloration. Stone didn’t have any injuries, the report said.

Stone was charged with simple battery and taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released Tuesday night on $500 bond. She’s scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on July 24.
