Ocala woman popped for crack possession after running stop sign

Jessica Leigh Sprague

An Ocala woman caught running a stop sign last Wednesday was arrested on drug charges after crack cocaine and a pipe were found in her vehicle.

Jessica Leigh Sprague, 24, of 3611 NE 18th Terrace, was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. An Ocala Police officer saw her driving a white Acura and disregard a stop sign at SW 1st Street and SW 20th Avenue and pulled her over, according to the OPD report.

A police K9 unit also responded to the scene and the dog detected the presence of narcotics during an open-air sniff. Sprague was instructed to get out of the vehicle, but she was hesitant. Once she finally got out, she dropped a glass crack pipe on the ground, the report said.

A search of the vehicle yielded a small piece of crack cocaine on the floorboard underneath the driver’s seat. The officer also found a second crack pipe in Sprague’s purse. Residue found inside the pipe tested positive for crack cocaine, according to the report.

Sprague was taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was still being held Monday on $1,500 bond. She’s scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on Feb. 25.
