Ocala women jailed after crack found during traffic stop

Robin Jackson

Two Ocala women were arrested on drug charges last week after being pulled over for running a red light.

Robin Jackson, 46, was the driver and Andrea Williams, 48, was the front-seat passenger when an Ocala Police officer observed their Nissan fail to come to a full and complete stop at the red light at NE 16th Avenue and State Road 40. The officer initiated the traffic stop and the vehicle pulled into the parking lot of Checkers at 1239 E. S.R. 40, according to the police report.

During the stop, the officer observed a burnt, glass smoking pipe hidden in the open slots of the air vent in front of Jackson, on the left side. The ensuing search of the vehicle revealed a small, cloudy rock-like substance resting on the floorboard in front of Jackson’s seat, the report said.

The officer also found another similar substance in the center cup console on the passenger side. Also found was a small plastic bag hanging off the gear shifter, resting on the front passenger side where Williams was sitting. The bag contained a broken glass smoking pipe with burnt residue inside it, according to the report.

The two rock substances and the pipe inside the plastic bag tested positive for the presence of cocaine. Jackson told the officer that Williams handed her the crack pipe to hide it and she hid it in the air vent. Williams denied any knowledge of the crack pipes or the crack cocaine, the report said.

Jackson has numerous previous arrests, the most recent on Jan. 16 for possession of drug equipment. Both women were charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia and taken to the Marion County Jail. Jackson is being held without bond and will appear in Marion County Court on Feb. 25. Williams is being held on $3,000 bond and awaits a Feb. 25 date in court.
