Ocala woman nabbed after spat at Queen’s Gardens Resort

Yarimar Muriel Rivera

An Ocala woman was arrested after she allegedly bit and pulled a man’s hair, then tried to stab him with a pen during a nasty spat at the Queen’s Gardens Resort.

Yarimar Muriel Rivera, 32, of 11691 NW 12th Lane, was charged with simple domestic battery (dating violence) after the incident, which occurred Monday evening at the hotel, located at 3340 S. Pine Ave. The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that Rivera was arrested in September for battery against him and he hadn’t had any contact with her since then, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said he was in the bathroom when there was a knock at the door. He said he came out of the bathroom and his juvenile son had opened the door. The victim said Rivera entered the room and started yelling at him. He said Rivera pulled his hair and bit him on the back of his left upper arm, the report said.

The victim said Rivera then tried to stab him with a pen. He said she threatened to destroy the room before eventually leaving. The deputy observed a fresh bite mark on the back of the victim’s left upper arm. The mark was slightly swollen and the skin was broken, according to the report.

The deputy returned to the incident location around midnight to speak with the victim and heard a female yelling from inside the room. The victim said Rivera had returned and was hiding in the bathroom, the report said.

Rivera told the deputy she and the victim were arguing earlier in the day and she left. She said while she was gone, she received several text messages from the victim that made her mad. Rivera said when she returned to the incident location, she saw the victim and jumped on him out of anger, according to the report.

Rivera said the victim threw her on the bed and was holding her down by her hair. She said she bit the victim to get away from him. The deputy didn’t observe any injuries or marks on Rivera, the report said.

Rivera was taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was being held Friday on $1,000 bond. She’s scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on Feb. 18.
