Citra man charged with scratching man during family spat

Jonathan D. Huttenlocher

A 54-year-old Citra man who confronted a family member about entering his home through a bedroom window was arrested for allegedly scratching the man during the argument.

The victim, who went to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office North-Multi District office on Monday to report the incident, told a deputy that he lives at the location but is not allowed in the home when Jonathan D. Huttenlocher and a female family member aren’t home. The relationship between the victim, Huttenlocher, and the other household member was redacted in the sheriff’s office incident report.

The victim said Huttenlocher and the other family member weren’t home when he returned from a friend’s house on Sunday night, so he went through hid bedroom window to get inside. He said Huttenlocher confronted him the next morning about using the window to get in the house and they started arguing, the report said.

The victim said Hunterlocher grabbed him by the throat during the argument, leaving scratch marks on his neck. He said at no point did he feel as if he was being choked or losing air. The deputy observed three large scratch marks on the victim’s neck. The female family member, who witnessed the incident, confirmed there was an altercation but said everything happened so fast and she was unsure what transpired, according to the report.

Huttenlocher said when he arrived home Sunday night, he saw that the victim had entered the home through the bedroom window. He said he confronted the victim on Monday, and that when the victim tried to leave, he grabbed him by the neck, the report said.

Huttenlocher was charged with domestic battery and taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was released Wednesday on $500 bond. He’ll appear in Marion County Court on Feb. 19.
