A 65-year-old DeLand man was killed Friday afternoon in a single-vehicle rollover crash in Marion County.
The incident took place at 2:21 p.m. on County Road 316 near N.W. 170th Avenue Road when the man attempted to navigate a curve to the left while traveling east. The van left the roadway to the right and started spinning. The vehicle then re-entered the roadway and crossed both travel lanes before overturning on the north grass shoulder, a Florida Highway Patrol report states.
The van came to rest on its roof facing north. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from Marion County Fire Rescue, the FHP report says.
