Motorist trauma alerted to Ocala hospital after sedan slams into semi-truck

A motorist was trauma alerted to a local hospital early Tuesday morning after a sedan collided with a semi-truck on State Road 40.

The driver of this vehicle was trauma alerted to Ocala Regional Medical Center early Tuesday morning after being extricated from the sedan by firefighters from Ocala Fire Rescue.

Multiple units from Ocala Fire Rescue responded to the crash at 12:47 a.m. in the 5100 block of SR 40. Upon arrival, crews encountered the two-vehicle collision that left the driver of the sedan entrapped, a report states.

Firefighters from Engine 4, Rescue 4 and Tower 1 stabilized the vehicle and began extrication. Within 16 minutes, the patient had been removed from the vehicle and was then transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center as a trauma alert, according to the report.

No other injuries were reported in the crash. Firefighters from Marion County Fire Rescue and officers from the Ocala Police Department also responded to the incident.
