City awards $116,000 contract for construction of Tuscawilla Art Park restroom

The city of Ocala will move forward with the construction of a restroom at the Tuscawilla Art Park after receiving a winning bid of just over $116,000.

That bid, which was approved during the Ocala City Council’s meeting on June 15, came from Blackwater Construction Services, LLC. According to city records, the contractor has completed similar projects in the last five years locally that are well documented.

Bids were requested and received in regards to the project, with Blackwater Construction, LLC coming in with the lowest bid. The other five bids ranged from $129,833 to just over $275,000.

The project will see the construction of a new two-unit split block CMU restroom facility. The building will contain a storage room, wash down room, and an art element on the exterior wall.

The Tuscawilla Park area is no stranger to new construction, as the Reilly Arts Center has been busily working away at its expansion in recent months.

In addition, the newly constructed Tuscawilla Apartments announced recently that they are prequalifying potential tenants.
