South Ocala Burger King receives third complaint from health inspector in past two weeks

A Burger King in the southern half of Ocala is facing its third administrative complaint in as many weeks for a number of high priority health code violations.

The Burger King, which is located at 2240 SW Highway 484 in Ocala, has been subject to three administrative complaints from a health inspector with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation since July 15.

The fast food restaurant received its first administrative complaint on Thursday, July 15, with its most recent coming on Thursday, July 29. Although the complaint on July 15 included 14 total violations, the most recent complaint shows 8 violations still remain as of July 29.

Among the ongoing issues is the presence of live, small flying insects inside the kitchen, food preparation, and food storage areas. In addition, upon each visit the health inspector has found ingredients being used beyond the time/temperature control on their containers.

Dating back to last year, the Burger King near the I-75 interchange along Hwy 484 has incurred multiple follow-up inspections as a result of administrative complaints. In July 2020, the presence of live, small flying insects in the kitchen was one of five high priority violations noted.Â
