East Ocala Outback receives warning, follow-up health inspections

An Outback in east Ocala received a warning and required a follow-up food health inspection last week after an inspector found 12 violations, including four considered high priority.

The Outback located at 4899 East Silver Springs Boulevard received the warning on Tuesday, July 27 from a health inspector with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

Among the four high priority violations were the presence of small, flying insects in the kitchen and food preparation areas. In addition, the organization received a repeat intermediate violation for a mold like substance, or slime, located in the oven and in a protein cooler, according to the report.

The facility was subject to a follow-up inspection on Thursday, July 29 and received an administrative complaint when multiple live flies were found again in the liquor cabinet, in the kitchen area, and in the ware wash area, according to the report.

Unlike an emergency order to close a facility, warnings are issued when “violations require further review, but are not an immediate threat to the public,” according to the DBPR website.

The Outback in east Ocala made national headlines earlier this year when a naked woman went on a bottle-throwing rampage and caused thousands of dollars in damage.
