Ocala man arrested after deputy finds drugs, scale near driver’s seat during traffic stop

A 42-year-old Ocala man was arrested during a traffic stop after the responding deputy spotted a clear bag filled with methamphetamine on the driver’s seat.

On Sunday at around 11 p.m., a Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to the Circle K located at 5182 E Silver Springs Boulevard in Silver Springs in reference to a traffic stop.

Another MCSO deputy had observed a black Kia sedan traveling westbound in the 5800 block of E State Road 40. A search of the license plate revealed that the owner, Jason Nathaniel Weille, had a suspended driver’s license.

A traffic stop was conducted and Weille pulled into the gas station parking lot. The responding deputy also arrived on scene.

Weille was the driver and sole occupant of the sedan. The deputy asked for consent to search the vehicle and Weille declined.

While speaking with Weille outside of the vehicle, the deputy noticed a clear plastic baggie containing a crystal-like substance on the front seat where he had been seated.

That substance later field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

Weille was detained and a vehicle search was conducted. In addition to the clear baggie on top of the seat, there were several dozen clear plastic bags, stacks of money tucked in-between the driver’s seat and center console, and a red battery-operated scale underneath the driver’s seat.

A white powdery substance was on top of the scale, and it also field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

The deputy located a notebook inside the vehicle that contained names, addresses, phone numbers, and dollar amounts. Numerous cellphones were also found, and Weille only identified one of the cellphones as belonging to him.

When asked about the bag with methamphetamine, Weille told the deputy that he was “hypothetically on the way to pick up money and then to purchase 10-ounces of meth.” He also stated that he wanted to cooperate with the investigation, but he refused to say anything further when the deputy told him that he would be going to jail.

Weille was arrested, transported to Marion County Jail, and later released on $3,500 bond. He is facing a felony charge for drug possession with intent to sell along with misdemeanor charges for possession of drug paraphernalia and driving without a license.

A court date has not been scheduled yet, according to jail records.
