Southeast corner of Ocala Breeders Feed and Supply warehouse catches fire

A fire was reported at the Ocala Breeders Feed and Supply warehouse located at 431 NW 27th Avenue on Thursday at around 11:55 a.m.

Ocala Fire Rescue units (Engines 1, 3, 4, and 5, Rescue 1, Tower 1, Battalion Chiefs 11 and 22, and a Safety Officer) arrived on scene and found a downed power pole and power lines with three burning transformers.

The southeast corner of the building was on fire and OBS employees were using fire extinguishers to keep the flames from spreading.

According to the OFR report, crews from Engines 1 and 3 attacked the fire from both sides while Engines 4 and 5 supplied water from the hydrant. Rescue 1 searched the interior of the building to ensure that no employees were left behind.

Firefighters contained the fire until the power lines were secured. The fire was under control by 12:26 p.m. and damages were contained to the exterior siding of the southeast corner of the structure.

No injuries were reported, and the state warning point was notified of a transformer oil spill.

Ocala Electric Utility, Marion County Fire Rescue, and the Ocala Police Department also responded.
