Ocala firefighters sprang into action on Thursday afternoon after a trailer filled with bags of potato chips caught on fire.
At approximately 1:48 p.m., Ocala Fire Rescue units consisting of Engines 3 and 4, Rescue 3, Tower 1, and Battalion 11 were dispatched to Outlaw Snax located at 3031 W Silver Springs Boulevard due to reports of a vehicle fire.
Once the firefighters arrived on scene, they observed flames on a detached trailer that contained approximately 40,000 pounds of potato chips. The trailer was not connected to a truck and the fire was not threatening any structures.
Crew members from Engine 4 and Rescue 3 used a pre-connected hose line to combat the fire. At the same time, firefighters from Engine 3 and Tower 1 prepared to deploy Engine 4’s deck gun, which is a high-capacity jet stream used to knock down fires with a clear line of sight.
The crews utilized the jet stream along with an extinguishing agent, and the fire was extinguished.
No injuries were reported.
