‘Trunk or Treat’ event returns to Lake Lillian on October 29, participating vehicles needed

‘Trunk or Treat’ will return to Lake Lillian Park later this month, and the City of Belleview is looking for members of the community who would like to participate in the annual Halloween-themed event.

On Saturday, October 29, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., ‘Trunk or Treat’ will be held at Lake Lillian Park (SE Robinson Road), and it will include plenty of candy, decked out vehicles, free crafts, kids’ games, bounce houses, and a costume contest.

The City of Belleview is currently seeking additional vehicles to join the event. According to the city, all participating vehicles must follow these guidelines:

  • Trunks must be “kid-friendly” – decorations and costumes cannot be scary, violent, or demonic.
  • No toy weapons (guns, knives, swords, etc.).
  • No open flames, fireworks, or flammable materials are allowed.
  • Vehicles must be turned off for the duration of the event.
  • No electricity is available. Anyone needing electricity is encouraged to bring a generator.
  • Vehicles will be permitted to begin setting up at 2 p.m., and all vehicles must be ready by no later than 3:45 p.m.
  • Vehicles cannot be left unattended.
  • Participants are responsible for cleaning up their area after the event.
  • Participants are allowed to bring a sign advertising their business. However, political signs are not allowed.
  • Participants should bring their own pre-wrapped and sealed candy only, along with a scoop or tongs to distribute it. Other non-food treats (i.e. pencils, erasers, bookmarks, stickers, etc.) are also allowed.

On the day of the event, all participating vehicles must arrive at the park by no later than 3 p.m. to find a parking space and prepare for the arrival of the ‘trunk or treaters’ at 4 p.m.

In addition to the decorated vehicles, the event will also feature a costume contest for kids who are 16 years of age or younger. The city is reminding all participants that the costumes must be “kid-friendly.”

Forms are currently available online for those who would like to register a vehicle or sign up for the costume contest.
