Irma T. Cruz, 79, born August 16, 1943, to Santiago Echevarria and Julia Ortiz in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico, passed away December 9, 2022, in Ocala, Marion Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Brandon Joseph Cruz, sister, Lucilla Echevarria, and brother, Miguel Lorenzi.
The deceased is survived by her Spouse, Miguel A. Cruz Sr.; Children, Raphael Martinez, Gloria Martinez, and Venus Cruz; stepchildren Miguel A. Cruz, Jr., Ruben Cruz, and Michelle Cruz; her grandchildren Maria Martinez, Adrianna Martinez-Chotos, Christopher Martinez, Julianna Martinez-Chotos, Samantha Cruz, Ashley Cruz, Richard Robles, Kassandra Cruz, Janelle Mathurin-Neville, Jarrett Mathurin-Neville; great-grandchildren Taina Rodriguez Martinez, Cheyanne Martinez, Akani Ambersly and Emani Estrella, three brothers, Julio DeJesus, Humberto DeJesus, and William DeJesus, and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by countless friends she considered family especially Norma Rodriguez and Donna Otero who were as close to sisters as anyone can be.
Irma was loved by everyone she knew. She was the matriarch of her family and no one can come close to filling her shoes. Irma loved to travel with her husband and family as often as they could. She enjoyed going on cruises with family and friends. In 2020 she finally agreed to purchase an RV with her husband and quickly fell in love with RVing. Her favorite pastime was going to the casino to play slots and when she couldn’t get to the casino she enjoyed watching others play on TV. She also loved to bowl and was involved with several groups in her community, On Top of the World. As a child, she didn’t have a lot and as an adult, she was always the first to share her good fortune with others.
