Second Chance job fair heads to Marion County church

An upcoming job fair at BreadBreakers Church in Belleview will look to provide a second chance for Marion County residents who are struggling to find employment.

Better Together, a nonprofit organization, will host the Second Chances job fair on Thursday, April 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at BreadBreakers Church, which is located at 7325 E Highway 25 in Belleview.

The hiring event is being held for job seekers who are facing barriers to their employment, such as homelessness, previous incarceration, a lack of reliable childcare or transportation, or employment gaps on a resume due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The job background-friendly job fair will feature employers in Ocala/Marion County who are prepared to interview candidates face-to-face and offer jobs on the spot. In addition, the event will offer free resources that include one-on-one job coaching sessions to review resumes and interviewing skills, haircuts, and clothing to help candidates feel and look their best.

According to Better Together, additional Second Chances job fairs will be held at churches across the country on April 20 as part of the nonprofit’s Nationwide Day of Second Chances.
