Marion County firefighters rushed to a Dunnellon residence on Tuesday afternoon after a neighbor called 911 to report that a boat was on fire.
At 2:25 p.m., Marion County Fire Rescue units were dispatched to the home located in the 20000 block of SW 81st Street in Dunnelon. Firefighters arrived on scene within minutes and observed a boat in the yard that was engulfed in flames.
MCFR stated that the boat was located within 20 feet of the residence, and a wooden fence was 10 feet away. Firefighters sprang into action and began attacking the flames while protecting a nearby tree that was exposed to the fire.
Firefighters doused the boat with water and the flames were quickly extinguished.
There were no injuries reported. The cause and origin of the fire is currently under investigation, according to Marion County Fire Rescue.
