I’m glad I got the COVID vaccine

To the Editor:

As an independent voter, I didn’t get pressured to get the COVID vaccine. I turned 65 a week before my age group became eligible. I considered it a birthday present! As a singer in numerous nursing facilities, I wanted to get vaxed to protect the residents and myself, which it did. The bonus for me was the vaccine seemed to reset my metabolism. Twenty pounds melted off my body in a few months and hasn’t returned. Yeah!

But more important to share is my thoughts about the polio vaccine. It was a new, novel vaccine at the time of it’s creation, too. I think of how many American kids/adults would have spent their entire lives in a wheelchair had they refused the polio vaccine. An awful vision.

When I finally did find myself with a COVID infection 2 and 1/2 years afterwards, it was so mild and I was glad for the protection. In hindsight, the research indicates most COVID deaths resulted from unvaxed persons. At the time I was vaccinated, DeSantis was highly endorsing it. I’m glad I got it.

Just wanted to share my experience.
