Marion County firefighters came to the rescue of four pets on Thursday night after a fire ignited inside a mobile home in southwest Ocala.
At around 8:40 p.m., Marion County Fire Rescue units were dispatched to a mobile home located in the 3800 block of SW 90th Street in Ocala. A 911 caller had reported that her house was on fire, and she advised that two cats and two dogs were trapped inside, according to MCFR.
Within minutes, MCFR Engine #23 arrived on scene, and crews observed smoke near the front of the mobile home. Additional units soon arrived at the residence, and the firefighters began attacking the flames.
Crew members from MCFR’s Rescue 28 unit searched the interior of the mobile home, and they successfully located and rescued the four animals that were inside.
A pet oxygen mask was administered to one of the dogs that was rescued from the mobile home. “We are glad to report that the dog is doing well,” stated MCFR.
It took firefighters approximately 30 minutes to extinguish the flames, and the fire was called under control shortly after 9:15 p.m.
The cause and origin of the fire is currently under investigation.
