Precautionary boil water notice planned for two Silver Springs communities

Due to planned water plant maintenance, Marion County Utilities will issue a precautionary boil water notice beginning at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23 for homes and businesses within the Silver Springs Woods and Silver Springs Village communities.

The maintenance will take place between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Tuesday, and it may cause an interruption to water service in the affected communities, according to Marion County Utilities.

Customers within Silver Springs Woods and Silver Springs Village are advised to bring water intended for consumption to a rapid boil for at least one minute until this precautionary notice is lifted. As an alternative, bottled water may be used for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, making ice, or washing dishes.

Any water that is used for laundry, bathing, and showering does not need to be boiled.

Marion County Utilities states that it will perform water testing per regulations from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Once the water has been proven safe to drink, customers will be notified via emails, interactive community calls, media release, and/or social media.
