Ocala woman attempts to run over ex-boyfriend with SUV, police say

A 31-year-old woman was arrested by Ocala police after she was accused of attempting to run over her ex-boyfriend with her SUV.

The arrest report stated that on Saturday, February 3, an Ocala Police Department officer responded to an unspecified location on SW 20th Avenue in reference to an aggravated assault incident. Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the male victim who advised that Talaesha Brionna Johnson had attempted to strike him with her vehicle.

The victim stated that he was traveling southbound on the sidewalk on NW 20th Avenue, between NW 1st Street and SW 1st Street, on an electric scooter. He told the officer that while he was riding the scooter, he spotted a familiar red SUV that was being driven by Johnson, according to the arrest report.

The SUV allegedly attempted to “run (the victim) over” while he was on the scooter, and he advised that he had to jump off to avoid getting hit. The officer noted in the report that the victim’s scooter appeared to have been run over, and the damages were estimated at approximately $250.

After the alleged incident, the report stated that Johnson “drove off” and did not return to the scene. While speaking with the officer, Johnson mentioned that Johnson was his ex-girlfriend and he “broke up with (her) yesterday.”

Johnson was located, arrested, and transported to Marion County Jail on February 3. Three days later, she was released from jail after posting a $7,500 bond.

Johnson is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and criminal mischief with property damages over $200 but less than $1,000. Court records show that she has entered a written plea of “not guilty.”

On Tuesday, March 5, Johnson is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m.
