A new Mexican restaurant has opened in downtown Ocala, replacing the former Cuban restaurant that occupied the space for the past several years.
My Quate Taste-Mex is now open for business at 119 S Pine Avenue, in the former location of Havana Cuban Cuisine 352.
The new restaurant wasted no time moving into the former space. Havana 352, which was owned by the Matos family, announced on February 1 that the family had sold the business “for personal reasons.”
My Quate serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, all with a “taste-Mex” approach that combines Mexican and American flavors.
That includes a collection of savory breakfast options like the western skillet, roasted pork skillet, and a steak a la Mexicana skillet, which features onions, tomatoes, and jalapeños.
For lunch and dinner, the restaurant offers all of the classic options like taco platters, enchiladas, tostadas, and quesadillas, among others.
Most of the options are available as platters that are accompanied with Spanish rice, beans, and sour cream.
In addition to the food options, My Quate also creates fresh-blended fruit juices in house. Flavors include passion fruit, soursop, mango, guava, blackberry, strawberry, and pineapple.
According to state corporate records, the business is owned by Javier Ordóñez.
With its opening, My Quate joins several other Mexican restaurants that have opened in Ocala over the past few years, including Cantina Tex Mex Tequila Bar, Sayulita Taqueria, El Mezcal, La Fiesta, Casita Luna, Antojitos 352, and Brisas Del Mar. La Catrina Cocina Mexicana is currently in the midst of renovating a new space at Churchill Square.
